Benny McLean is a 3rd generation citrus grower in south Lake County. In 1999 he converted 1,500 acres of Florida citrus to organic farming becoming one of the first certified organic citrus growers. Benny McLean is the father of Matt McLean, the founder and CEO of Uncle Matt’s Organic farm, and Ben McLean, vice president and director of research.
In front of an audience of South Lake Chamber of Commerce attendees, Mike Corradino, chamber member and seasoned speaker, interviewed Benny on the history of citrus in Lake County, his son Matt, the founder of Uncle Matt’s Organic and how it all began.
