The Kiwanis Division 9 Lt. Governor Alan Garcia conducted the Tuesday evening meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Clermont. He reminded the members that the evening meetings, held on the 4thTuesday of the month, are in an out-of-the-box format which is set up for members, prospective members, and other “Kiwanis Family” participants who are unable to attend the regular noon meetings. It allows Club sponsored Service Leadership Program Members, such as Key Clubs, CKI and etc., as well as their parents or other family members to take a more active part in the Kiwanis Family activities of the club. He said these evening meetings will help the club expand to a new demographic, such as younger members.
The Young Children Priority One (YCPO) Chairperson, Cleamstine Caple gave a report on readings at the Head Start Program of Clermont. Janet Hoskinson reported on the Upcoming Terrific Kids awards. Martha Jones, the Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee reported that there are 12 Kiwanis Club of Clermont Scholarships at $1,500 each and two Key Club Scholarships at $3,000.00 each bringing a total to $24,000 this year. Recipients are from South Lake HS, East Ridge HS, Real Life Christian School and Key Club Scholarships to Montverde Academy. Alan Garcia reported on the placing and retrieving of American Flags on the graves of Veterans at Oak Hill Cemetery for Memorial Day by members of the Kiwanis Club of Clermont.
New Members, Jennifer Noak and Thom Battisto were inducted into the club.
