The Mid-Week Farmers Market at Montverde announced that its Summer Vacation is in effect from Wednesday, June 13th through Wednesday, August 29th. The Market, held in Montverde’s Kirk Park since January 10th, 2018, will resume September 5th, the first Wednesday after Labor Day, with a full complement of vendors.
“Plans for the Market’s Grand Re-Opening after Labor Day are in the works,” says market manager Ron Smart. “Fall is a great season for ‘growing’ Farmers Markets; and, visitors to our Market will notice the growth and changes that will complement our ‘core’ vendors’ product mix. We’ll have a larger vendor base with more variety of quality items to offer shoppers,” he states.
“The Market’s ‘outdoor mall’ environment in Montverde’s Kirk Park offers easy access from Clermont, Oakland, Minneola, Groveland, Howie, and Winter Garden – away from traffic and congestion,” Smart says. “It’s a relaxing atmosphere – with a wonderful selection of quality fresh produce, fish, eggs, breads, ‘eats & treats’ of various sorts, plants, salts & soaps, gift items, and much more. Add in all the unique handmade and homemade items…there’s something for everyone.” Smart says that more vendors with arts and crafts, fabric and textiles, lawn & garden and so forth will be welcomed by market patrons. Entertainment and activities will also be increased. For example, fitness expert Alicia Weber will be a frequent participant with her Brain and Body Fitness Program which appeals to all ages. ‘How-to’ demonstrations, such as gardening tips, plant care, and cooking with Farmer’s Market goodies as well as programs for wellness, healthy eating, music, car enthusiasts, and other areas of interest, will be regular features. Special recognition programs will be offered for 55-plus communities, church and school groups (including home-school ‘day-out’ programs), and others.
The MidWeek Market at Montverde will return in September to its home in Kirk Park which is adjacent to CR-455, Florida’s Scenic Green Mountain Byway, in the middle of Montverde. CR-455 connects Highway 50 and “Old 50” to CR-561. Hosted by Montverde United Methodist Church, the weekly Market is sponsored by Arellano Realty and made possible by the Town of Montverde. Advertising and publicity for the September 5th Grand Re-Opening will include a new TV commercial, online videos, newspaper, websites and more. Outreach programs to inform area Home Owners Associations and gated communities about the benefits of shopping the Montverde Market will begin in early August and continue through the Market season.
