The Ray Goodgame Outstanding Student Leader Award honors students in the South Lake area who like Ray, serve as a champion for the community. The award was presented to Valerie Belvu by Clinton Pownall of Computer Business Consultants at October’s South Lake Chamber of Commerce Business Breakfast.
Valerie Belvu is a student at Real Life Christian Academy. She is an honor roll student that currently holds a 4.6 GPA. She has received the math award in 10th and 11th grade, the science award in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade and the dean’s list in 9th grade. In addition to her AP and honors courses, Val served as the 9th and 12th grade representative for Stuco, currently serves as the yearbook photographer and has taken several school service trips during her time at Real Life.
Outside of academics, Val plays on the varsity girls basketball team and has been awarded the captain award, MPV and rookie of the year.
If that doesn’t sound like a lot, Val also volunteers at Kid Life every Sunday and does volunteer work in a group home.
