The Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Office is leading the effort to ensure that if a disaster strikes, some of its critical services, such as finance and court operations, continue to function by performing its annual disaster recovery test over the next two weeks.
“Performing our annual disaster recovery test is crucial to ensuring continuity of operations in the event of a major disruption of service,” said Gary Cooney, Lake County Clerk and Comptroller.
The test is coordinated by the Clerk’s Information Technology team and includes key personnel from the Clerk’s Office, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Employees conducting the test are placed in a remote location where they no longer have access to their regular work areas and test critical functions, such as processing payments and accessing court and official records, in a recovery environment.
The disaster recovery test is performed annually in the spring and lasts for two weeks.
The Clerk’s Office maintains financial software and hardware for the Clerk, the Board, and the Sheriff, in addition to maintaining the software used in the management of all official records, and software for all court records.
